This week, Hamilton Arts Week marks its ten year anniversary. An annual celebration of arts and culture in Hamilton, the festival takes place every June and coincides with the Hamilton Arts Awards (taking place tomorrow night!)
This is all bit of milestone for me. Though I’m not part of the organization anymore, I was working at the Hamilton Arts Council when the idea of Arts Week was first conceived of and put into action. On top of that, my theatre company Same Boat Theatre has been nominated for a City of Hamilton Arts Award in the Creators category after nearly a decade of producing.
I had a chance to ask the current staff of the Hamilton Arts Council, David Hudson and Megan Divecha, what make this year’s Arts Week so special as well as how they see themselves and their work at the HAC.

Also, you can check out more information on Arts Week, and the look over the whole schedule. It all kicks off with the Hamilton Arts Awards on Wednesday night with exciting programming happening all over the city for the rest of the week, so don’t miss out.
